Adult Autism Speech & Language Therapist £40,000-£50,000 | West Midlands | Hybrid | Full-time or part-time

If you want your SLT expertise to play a genuine part in autism diagnosis, rather than sit around the edges of the pathway, this role is worth considering.

You will join a multidisciplinary adult autism service where speech, language, communication and social interaction are treated as core parts of diagnostic understanding. Your clinical reasoning will feed directly into MDT discussion, formulation and recommendations for the person being assessed.

The service works across psychology, nursing, OT, SLT and senior medical colleagues, with clear clinical oversight and governance. Core diagnostic assessments are face-to-face, with hybrid working available for suitable non-diagnostic elements.

• Your SLT perspective has a clear place within diagnostic decision-making.
• You will explore communication across relationships, work, education and everyday life, not just within a clinic room.
• There is protected time for assessment, report writing, MDT work, supervision and service development.
• You can contribute to personalised recommendations around communication, reasonable adjustments and onward support.
• There is scope to support junior clinicians and contribute to how the pathway develops.
• The job plan includes around 18-22 hours of clinical assessment activity, 8-10 hours for reporting and formulation, and dedicated MDT, supervision and governance time.

You will need HCPC registration as a Speech and Language Therapist, alongside significant post-qualification adult experience and confidence assessing communication and social interaction differences. Adult autism pathway experience is desirable rather than essential.
