We're recruiting an HR & Payroll Executive to join an established food manufacturer in Birmingham. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys a hands-on, varied role and wants to play a key part in supporting the workforce and wider business.

Working closely with the HR Manager, you'll be involved in all aspects of HR and payroll, supporting a busy manufacturing operation where accuracy, organisation and effective communication are essential. From weekly payroll and recruitment to employee relations and training, you'll have the opportunity to make a real impact while developing your career.

HR & Payroll Executive

The Role

As HR & Payroll Assistant, you'll provide essential support to the HR Manager, helping ensure the smooth running of HR and payroll operations across the business.

HR & Payroll Executive

Key responsibilities include:

* Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, contracts and HR systems.

* Support the processing of weekly payroll using Sage 50 Payroll, including overtime, holidays, sickness and attendance.

* Check timesheets and clocking records, investigate discrepancies and meet payroll deadlines.

* Prepare employment contracts, starter and leaver documentation, and process employee changes.

* Respond to routine HR and payroll queries from employees and managers.

Recruitment & Onboarding

* Support recruitment from vacancy advertising through to interviews and appointments.

* Coordinate interviews, references and pre-employment checks, including Right to Work.

* Prepare offer letters and onboarding documentation and assist with new-starter inductions.

Employee Relations & Absence Management

* Provide administrative support for disciplinary, grievance and investigation procedures.

* Support sickness absence management and Return-to-Work processes.

* Arrange meetings, prepare HR documentation and maintain confidential records.

* Assist managers with routine HR queries and procedures, escalating complex matters where necessary.

Training & Development

* Coordinate employee training and maintain the company training matrix and training records.

* Monitor training requirements and expiry dates, liaising with managers and external providers.

* Support employee engagement activities and wider HR initiatives.

HR & Payroll Executive About You

You'll have previous experience in an HR administration or HR and payroll role, ideally within food manufacturing, FMCG or another fast-paced operational environment.

You'll be organised, approachable and confident supporting employees and managers across different departments, with the ability to manage competing priorities and maintain strict confidentiality.

HR & Payroll Executive You'll ideally have:

* Previous HR administration and payroll experience.

* Experience using Sage 50 Payroll or a similar payroll system.

* CIPD Level 3 or above, or currently working towards a recognised HR qualification.

* A good understanding of UK employment legislation and HR procedures.

* Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.

* Confident communication and interpersonal skills.

* Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.

* The ability to work independently and as part of a team.

HR & Payroll Executive What's on Offer?

* Salary up to £30,000 (DOE), Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:30pm, Full-time, permanent position, 24 days' annual leave plus 8 bank holidays, Workplace pension and life insurance, Employee reward card, Training and career development opportunities & A varied role within an established food manufacturing business.
