Reporting directly to the Head of Claims Data Improvement and Culture, the role will partner with the data science teams to embed well governed analytics and data science capability into Claims, strengthening data driven decision making, improving customer outcomes, and building a strong data culture within agreed risk and control frameworks.

Key Accountabilities
  • Own the lifecycle of machine learning models, robotics and analytics within Claims, from use case definition and prioritisation through to deployment, monitoring, and retirement.
  • Partner with data science teams, translating Claims objectives into clear problem statements, success metrics, and operational constraints.
  • Ensure models are production ready, aligned to Claims processes, decision frameworks, and technology environments.
  • Oversee ongoing model performance, monitoring drift, bias, data quality issues, and operational misuse.
  • Embed model outputs into decisioning, ensuring recommendations and thresholds are well understood and appropriately used by Claims teams.
  • Champion data literacy and adoption, helping colleagues understand the importance of data science and analytics in Claims.
  • Balance innovation with risk and control, ensuring appropriate mitigations are in place for model, data, conduct, and regulatory risks.
  • Support strong governance and assurance, ensuring documentation, explainability, controls and audit readiness.
  • Drive continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to enhance data, features or processes that influence model effectiveness.
Skills And Experience
  • Strong knowledge of Claims and the wider UK business.
  • Solid understanding of machine learning life cycles and production deployment concepts.
  • Ability to constructively challenge models and analytical concepts.
  • Strong stakeholder management across operational, data, governance, and technology teams.
  • Ability to communicate complex analytical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
  • Balanced mindset combining performance, customer fairness, and risk awareness.
  • Experience working with Agile methodologies.
Desirable
  • Degree in data, mathematics, or a related field.
