The FRC's Audit and Assurance Policy team is responsible for setting auditing and ethical standards for UK audits and issuing guidance to support their implementation.
The use of technology, including AI, in audit and assurance has the potential to enhance quality and promote growth in the UK economy. The Audit Technology Policy Specialist will support a range of initiatives to promote the appropriate use of technology in audit.
Accountabilities- Supporting the Head of Assurance Technology in drafting guidance on the application of technology in audit, including practical illustrative examples, and influencing international standard setting boards
- Engaging with audit firms, third party technology providers, UK regulators and international standard setters to obtain insights and support technology adoption
- Helping standard setting in the UK in response to evolving technology
- Influencing and supporting international standard setters (in audit, assurance and ethics) in their standard setting and guidance in this area
- Collaborating with colleagues to ensure a consistent FRC approach to technology in audit
- Building and maintaining professional expertise and network
- Qualified member of professional accountancy body OR expert in technology and AI policy
- Good knowledge of auditing and ethical standards applicable in the UK
- Good knowledge of emerging technologies relevant to audit, including generative and agentic AI
- Good knowledge of how technology, including AI, is and may be used in audit and related policy challenges
- Excellent written communicator, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly'
- Ability to build and maintain professional network, internally and externally
- Collaborative approach to working with colleagues from a variety of teams
- Ability to understand technical drafting and distil underlying principles
- Creativity and innovation to engage with policy making in emerging areas
- Intellectual curiosity to build and maintain cutting edge technology expertise
- Proactive approach
- These roles support and enable the delivery of an ambitious program of work to support and respond to the potentially transformative deployment of technology in audit, which has the potential to enhance audit quality and support growth in the UK economy.
