Arts Council England is transforming into a more user‑centred, service‑led organisation. As a Service Designer, you will help us understand, design and improve services for the creative and cultural sector. You will work across teams to map current services, identify gaps, and design improvements that are simpler, more inclusive and effective. This includes collaborating with policy, operations, digital and data teams to shape end‑to‑end services that meet real user needs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Mapping and analysing existing services, identifying friction points and opportunities.
- Supporting Service Owners in designing end‑to‑end services that consider the full user journey.
- Working closely with user researchers, data teams, product managers, delivery managers and stakeholders to understand user needs, co‑design improved services, facilitate workshops and create artefacts such as journey maps, service blueprints and system maps.
- Shaping services through discovery, alpha, beta and live phases; advocating for accessibility and inclusive design; communicating complex concepts clearly to influence decision‑making.
About You
You will have experience applying service design methods to understand and improve services, mapping end‑to‑end journeys and identifying opportunities for improvement. You understand user‑centred design principles, are comfortable working in multidisciplinary teams, and have strong facilitation and communication skills. You can balance user needs with organisational priorities and constraints, and are aware of accessibility and inclusive design principles. Experience in the public sector, familiarity with Government Digital Service approaches and knowledge of how digital, data and technology support service delivery are beneficial.
Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Statement
