Heavy Haul Rail is recruiting an IT Systems Technologist to join our team at the Suffolk depot.
What You’ll DoAs an IT Systems Technologist, you will implement, manage, secure and optimise the organisation’s IT systems. Your work will ensure high availability, performance and compliance across networks, servers, cloud platforms and security tools.
- Manage and support existing IT services including Microsoft 365, Azure, Windows Server, network services and system interoperability.
- Monitor the environment for pre‑emptive support and troubleshooting, ensuring high availability, resilience and performance.
- Collaborate with IT and business teams to implement and manage system and security policies.
- Deliver IT projects and liaise with internal teams and third parties to resolve issues.
- Identify, investigate and introduce new technologies to improve service and security.
- Create and maintain system documentation and ensure legal compliance with IT regulations.
- Perform any other duties commensurate with skills, scope and time available.
Job Requirements
- Experience with the Microsoft stack of products.
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, Office 365, etc.).
- Experience with security system management and implementation.
- Experience with system interoperability.
- Solid grounding in all IT areas and a proven record of delivering reliable systems.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff across the business, as well as key customers and suppliers.
- Ability to multitask, work well under pressure and prioritise conflicting demands.
- Ability to articulate technical information to non‑technical staff.
- Excellent organisational and time‑management skills with strong attention to detail.
- Flexible approach to working hours and willingness to travel.
- Strong behavioural competencies, including proactive initiative, high integrity, teamwork, and a passion for operational excellence.
