Job Description & How to Apply Below
IT Manager - Birmingham (Hybrid)
We are seeking an IT Manager to lead TXP's internal technology function. This role carries genuine technical awareness but does not require you to be the primary hands‑on engineer; you will work closely with a Senior Technical Engineer who carries deep hands‑on delivery, while you own the overall service, security, governance and direction of TXP's internal IT.
Key Responsibilities- Own the day‑to‑day running of TXP's internal IT function, providing clear direction and holding the team accountable for service levels.
- Lead, coach and develop the internal IT team, including the Senior Technical Engineer, building technical depth and resilience within the function.
- Set clear objectives and provide regular feedback, balancing individual development with the needs of the wider business.
- Build a culture of ownership, curiosity and continuous improvement within the internal IT team.
- Maintain service levels for incident response, request fulfilment and problem management, with clear tracking of performance against agreed targets.
- Proven experience managing an internal IT function, ideally within a technology consultancy or professional services environment.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365, sufficient to direct and challenge technical decisions without needing to perform hands‑on delivery.
- Experience managing a small technical team, with the credibility to lead technically capable people without being the most hands‑on person in the room.
- Genuine enthusiasm for AI tools and emerging Microsoft technologies, with a track record of driving adoption of new tools into a live environment.
- Strong vendor management and commercial skills, with experience owning budgets and negotiating contracts.
- Working knowledge of ITIL service management practice, with experience owning incident, problem, change and request processes in a live environment.
- Experience operating within an ISO 9001 quality management system and an ISO 27001 information security management system, including maintaining supporting documentation and evidence.
- Direct experience of being audited against ISO 9001 and/or ISO 27001, and of maintaining Cyber Essentials or Cyber Essentials Plus certification, with the ability to manage findings and actions through to closure.
- Strong, current IT security knowledge, with the ability to translate certification and audit requirements into practical day‑to‑day controls.
- Uncapped OTE - high earning potential for top performers.
- 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays).
- An additional day of paid leave for your birthday (or Christmas eve).
- 4% matched employer-contributed pension (salary sacrifice).
- Life assurance (3x).
- Access to an Employee Assistance Programme.
- Private medical insurance through our partner Aviva.
- Cycle to work scheme.
- Corporate eye-care vouchers.
- Access to an independent financial advisor.
- 2 social value days per year to give back to local communities.
