We're looking for an experienced Senior BI Developer to help shape and develop our modern cloud data platform. Working with Microsoft Fabric, you'll play a key role in designing, building and maintaining scalable data solutions that support reporting, analytics and informed decision‑making across the organisation.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with cutting‑edge technologies including Microsoft Fabric, Spark, Azure Dev Ops, SQL, Python/PySpark and AI-enabled development tools, helping to deliver trusted data products that improve operational performance, support safeguarding outcomes and drive strategic decision‑making.

What you'll be doing
  • Design, build and enhance a modern enterprise data platform using Microsoft Fabric.
  • Develop robust data ingestion, transformation and orchestration processes using both code-first and low-code approaches.
  • Create and optimise Spark-based data solutions using Python/PySpark and notebooks.
  • Design scalable data models and data warehouses that support business intelligence, reporting and analytics.
  • Implement best practice data quality, monitoring and governance processes.
  • Manage source control, deployment and CI/CD pipelines through Azure Dev Ops.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across technology, operations, finance, HR and leadership teams to understand and deliver data requirements.
  • Support Power BI developers and analysts by providing trusted, high-quality datasets.
  • Champion modern engineering standards, reusable development patterns and technical best practice.
  • Explore and adopt AI-enabled tools and automation to improve efficiency, quality and innovation within the data function.
About you

You'll be a passionate data professional with strong technical expertise and a desire to continually improve data capabilities and ways of working.

You'll bring:
  • Strong SQL skills and hands-on experience with Python/PySpark.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Fabric and/or Azure Databricks.
  • Expertise in Spark-based data engineering and cloud data platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of ELT/ETL processes, orchestration, data modelling and Lakehouse architectures.
  • Experience using Azure Dev Ops, Git repositories and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Understanding of data governance, security, GDPR and data quality best practices.
  • Experience supporting analytics and reporting environments, ideally including Power BI.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to balance code-first and low-code development approaches to deliver effective solutions.
Desirable experience
  • Microsoft Fabric, Azure or Databricks certifications.
  • Experience with Fabric Data Factory Pipelines, Dataflows Gen2 and Direct Lake.
  • Knowledge of AI-assisted development tools such as Git Hub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot or Claude.
  • Experience with in a regulated environment such as children's services, healthcare, education or social care.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and compliance requirements.
