Job Description & How to Apply Below

Location: West Midlands (hybrid- 2 days per week in office)

Meraki Talent's professional services customer is embarking on an exciting digital transformation. Having recently designed and built a modern data platform with an external delivery partner, now ready to transition to full internal ownership. As such they seek a hands-on Senior Data Engineer to take technical ownership of this ecosystem, driving BAU, development, and future scaling.

As Senior Data Engineer, you will bridge the gap between external implementation consultancy and our internal business users. Initially, you will work closely with external partners to manage a seamless knowledge transfer. Post-transition, you will assume full responsibility for operating, supporting, and evolving the data platform.

This is a highly collaborative, technical role where you will manage everything from data ingestion and pipeline orchestration to back-end database development and dimensional modelling.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Ownership: Take the reins of the newly implemented data platform, ensuring smooth production support, monitoring, security, and data reconciliation.
  • Data Pipeline Architecture Development: Operate and develop robust data ingestion pipelines, SQL-based transformations, and complex business logic.
  • Data Warehousing: Design, maintain, and optimise data warehouse structures, data cubes, and dimensional models to support business intelligence.
  • Collaboration & Transition: Work pragmatically with our external data consultancy during the transition phase to ingest the existing solution and establish best practice internally.
Skills & Experience Required
  • Core Data Engineering: Substantial hands-on experience designing, building, and operating production data warehouses or modern data platforms.
  • SQL and deep experience in back-end database development.
  • Data Architecture: A background in Data Warehousing, Data Cubes, and dimensional modelling.
  • Pragmatic Mindset: A proven ability to understand, take over, and support existing third-party solutions with a proactive, problem-solving attitude.
  • Familiarity with legal finance and practice-management platforms.
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric development is highly desirable. Alternatively, you may have an Azure Data engineering background and can upskill/adapt to Fabric quickly.
What We Offer
  • The opportunity to shape and own and lead a modern enterprise data estate from the ground up.
  • A supportive, forward-thinking environment with exposure to the latest Microsoft data technologies.
  • Competitive salary (£60-70k) and comprehensive benefits package to match your experience.
