We’re looking for enthusiastic individuals with underwriting or broking experience who are keen to build technical expertise, develop strong broker relationships and contribute to the future of commercial insurance. We have opportunities across New Business and Existing Business teams — and you can choose to specialise in one area or work across both, depending on your strengths and preferences.

You’ll also have access to Aviva’s Commercial Lines Academy, a structured development programme designed to support your technical growth, trading capability and long‑term career progression.

As an Underwriter with Aviva, you’ll support the profitable growth of our commercial portfolio by underwriting new business, renewals and MTAs. We recognise that many underwriters have a strong preference for either New Business or Existing Business, so we offer roles that allow you to specialise — while also providing the option to work across both where it suits your development.

You’ll make informed, insight‑driven decisions, collaborate closely with colleagues across our regional teams and play a key part in delivering great outcomes for brokers and customers.

Building strong broker relationships is central to this role. You’ll engage with brokers both virtually and face‑to‑face, helping strengthen Aviva’s position as a leading insurer in the commercial market.

We welcome applications from a wide range of underwriting and broking backgrounds. Ideally, you will have:

• Experience in underwriting or broking at Trainee, Assistant, Development or Mid‑Market level
• Strong analytical and risk‑assessment skills
• Confidence communicating with brokers and customers
• Strong relationship‑building and collaboration skills
• An understanding of FCA requirements and regulatory responsibilities

• Salary: £35K-£50K (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
• Bonus opportunity - 8% of annual salary. Actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva’s.
