The role is available on a part‑time, job‑share or full‑time basis. Attractive salary depending on experience plus an excellent benefits package.
Location and TravelIdeal candidates are based in Birmingham or Manchester; other UK locations may be considered for experienced applicants on a hybrid working basis. Attendance at the Birmingham office at least once a month and meeting with brokers weekly to develop new opportunities and negotiate renewals is required.

The OpportunityZurich Commercial Insurance is looking for a Trading Underwriter to join our International Mid‑Market team. This role is ideal for an underwriter with Property and or Casualty experience who wishes to broaden exposure to multinational programmes and develop technical and trading skills within a supportive team.
Responsibilities- Support the underwriting and servicing of multinational Property and Casualty accounts in line with Zurich’s underwriting standards and risk appetite.
- Build and maintain relationships with brokers and customers to support retention and growth opportunities.
- Underwrite new and renewal business within delegated authority levels.
- Assess risk information, exposures and pricing to deliver profitable growth.
- Identify and progress trading opportunities within your broker panel.
- Ensure all underwriting activity complies with company guidelines, regulatory requirements and governance standards.
- Work closely with Distribution, Claims, Underwriting Services and other business areas to deliver excellent customer outcomes.
- Support delivery of team initiatives, process improvements and business projects.
- Promote Zurich’s products and services to strengthen customer relationships.
- Maintain accurate records and policy documentation.

- Experience in Commercial Property and/or Casualty underwriting.
- A strong customer and broker‑focused approach.
- Good communication and relationship‑building skills.
- Interest in multinational programmes and global insurance solutions.
- Ability to assess risk and make sound underwriting decisions.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- A collaborative approach and desire to learn from others.
- Progress towards ACII or willingness to work towards a professional insurance qualification.
- Good understanding of the commercial insurance market and factors that influence trading performance.
