A leading national law firm is seeking a 5+ PQE Construction Senior Associate to join its expanding Birmingham or Manchester construction team. This is a rare opportunity to step into a second‑in‑command position within a thriving practice that is investing heavily in growth. The team advises on the full spectrum of contentious and non‑contentious construction and engineering matters, including:
- Structuring and procurement strategies
- Drafting and negotiating construction contracts, appointments, JVs and development agreements
- Managing and troubleshooting live project issues
- Dispute resolution: adjudication, litigation, arbitration and ADR
The practice works hand‑in‑hand with colleagues in real estate, planning, procurement, energy, tax and sustainability. Many team members are ranked in Chambers UK and Legal 500

Both offices offer access to a first‑class client base including:
- Developers
- Contractors
- Registered Providers
- Local & central government bodies
You’ll be part of a national construction group comparable in scale to any major UK firm, while remaining closely connected to the Midlands and Northwest markets. The firm is deeply committed to these regions and proud of its involvement in high‑profile national and regional projects.
Role Responsibilities- Development, design and construction matters
- Asset management and maintenance contracts
- Infrastructure projects
- Public‑sector procurement and decarbonisation schemes (SHDF, HUG, etc.)
- Development and asset management for publicly funded housing bodies
- Construction due diligence on real estate, corporate and banking matters
- Client relationship management
- Participation in BD and marketing initiatives
- Qualified solicitor with 5+ years' non‑contentious construction experience (mixed practice backgrounds also welcome)
- Strong technical ability and commercial awareness
- Confidence managing matters independently
- Excellent communication and client‑service skills
- A collaborative, proactive mindset
- Strong academics
- Drive, ambition and genuine interest in growing the team
