We are seeking a talented and commercially minded Non-Contentious Construction Associate (2–6 years’ PQE) to join our highly regarded Construction team in Birmingham. Our firm is consistently recognised in the Legal 500 for excellence across real estate, construction, and infrastructure, acting for an impressive portfolio of national and international clients.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on high-profile, complex development and infrastructure projects across a range of sectors, including commercial real estate, residential development, energy, infrastructure, healthcare, and education. You will play a key role in advising clients on all aspects of non-contentious construction matters, working alongside leading partners and a collaborative, supportive team.
The RoleAs a Non-Contentious Construction Associate, you will:
- Advise on and draft a broad range of construction documentation, including:
- Building contracts (JCT and NEC suites)
- Collateral warranties
- Third-party rights schedules
- Framework agreements
- Pre-construction services agreements
- Support major development and regeneration projects from inception through to completion.
- Provide strategic, commercially focused advice to clients on risk allocation and procurement strategy.
- Work closely with the Real Estate, Projects, Banking, and Corporate teams on cross-disciplinary matters.
- Assist with due diligence exercises and provide construction input on property and corporate transactions.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships, contributing to business development initiatives.
We are looking for a motivated Associate with:
- 2–6 years’ PQE gained within a recognised construction team (regional, national or City firm).
- Strong experience in non-contentious construction matters.
- Solid drafting and negotiation skills across standard form construction contracts (particularly JCT and NEC).
- A strong academic background.
- Commercial awareness and the ability to deliver pragmatic, solution-focused advice.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive and collaborative approach to teamwork.
- Experience acting for developers, funders, contractors, and public sector bodies will be advantageous.
