Construction Senior​/Principal Associate

NON-CONTENTIOUS CONSTRUCTION PRINCIPAL ASSOCIATE | 6+ PQE | TOP INTERNATIONAL FIRM | BIRMINGHAM

BCL Legal is delighted to be assisting an international law firm in the recruitment of a Principal Associate to join its highly regarded Non‑Contentious Construction team in Birmingham. This is an exceptional opportunity to join one of the UK's largest and most respected construction & engineering practices, working on high‑value, high‑profile projects across a broad range of sectors. The role is offered on a full‑time, permanent basis with hybrid working as standard and an excellent salary and benefits package.

• Advise property companies, real estate investors, public sector bodies, corporate occupiers and major contractors on complex construction, engineering and infrastructure projects.
• Work across a diverse client base including developers, institutional investors and contractors – placing the team in the unique position of acting for the "holy trinity" of the construction market.
• Draft and negotiate all major forms of construction contract including JCT, NEC, MF/1 and FIDIC.
• Advise on development agreements, funding agreements and agreements for lease.
• Play a key role in major regeneration and infrastructure schemes across sectors such as logistics, housing, infrastructure, energy, healthcare, life sciences, retail and leisure.
• Take ownership of substantial matters with minimal partner supervision and supervise junior fee earners.

• A minimum of 6 years' PQE with strong non‑contentious construction experience.
• Demonstrable experience advising on JCT, NEC, MF/1 and FIDIC contracts.
• Experience advising on development and funding structures and major regeneration schemes.
• The ability to deliver pragmatic, commercial advice to high‑profile clients.
• Strong drafting, negotiation and problem‑solving skills.
• Experience supervising junior lawyers and contributing to team development.
• Excellent client handling and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach.
