Family Paralegal (Care Proceedings) - Birmingham
A well-established, multi-office law firm is seeking a permanent, full-time Family Paralegal to join its busy Birmingham office, with a particular focus on public law children matters and care proceedings.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing family team handling sensitive and complex cases involving local authorities, parents, and children.
The RoleYou will support Fee Earners on a varied caseload of care proceedings and other public law children matters, assisting from initial instruction through to final hearing. The role will involve direct client contact and close liaison with professionals involved in proceedings.
The Ideal Candidate Will- Be embarking on or have completed the LPC or BPTC (or equivalent), ideally having undertaken the Family Law elective (Private Law Children or Public Law Children).
- Demonstrate a genuine interest in Family Law, particularly care proceedings.
- Possess strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Be able to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Providing high levels of client care in sensitive and often urgent matters.
- Supporting Fee Earners with case preparation in care proceedings.
- Attending client meetings and taking detailed attendance notes.
- Managing files effectively via a case management system, including drafting correspondence and legal documents.
- Preparing and submitting public funding applications.
- Collating, paginating and redacting large volumes of documentation for Court bundles.
- Liaising with local authorities, CAFCASS, medical professionals, Police, Courts and expert witnesses to obtain and manage evidence.
- Building effective working relationships with both internal colleagues and external stakeholders.
