Overview
Gateley is seeking a Corporate Senior Associate to join the Corporate Midlands team in Birmingham. The role offers hybrid working and the opportunity to contribute to a growing practice handling a broad range of corporate matters.
The Corporate team supports transactions across the UK with an emphasis on high-value work and an international angle. You will be at the forefront of client relationships within the Midlands market and have the potential to progress toward partnership.
Responsibilities- Handle and/ or co-manage a broad range of corporate matters including mergers & acquisitions, private equity investments, exits, portfolio instructions, equity capital markets transactions, joint ventures and reorganisations.
- Take ownership of matters with support from a partner on more complex and/or high-value work.
- Network and build connections in the local corporate finance market; contribute to client development and cross-selling of Gateley services.
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to the development of the corporate team in line with performance and promotion processes.
- Maintain a client-centric ethos, delivering commercial and well-reasoned legal advice.
- At least 5 years' PQE with experience across a broad range of corporate matters.
- Experience in mentoring or supervising junior team members.
- Strong legal technical ability with the confidence to offer commercial advice.
- Excellent relationship management skills and willingness to develop new business opportunities within Gateley.
- Commercial acumen, good negotiation skills and a personable, dynamic personality with a collaborative mindset.
The Gateley Corporate team in Birmingham is part of a national practice of around 70 corporate lawyers advising a diverse client base, including work with clients with international angles.
