Job Title: Purchasing Manager Location: Hybrid (3 days onsite - Tues-Thurs)
Salary: up to £60,000 + bonus + private health care Type: Permanent

About the Role

We're recruiting for a Purchasing Manager to join a fast-paced, high-growth distribution business and an exciting time of growth.

This is a pivotal hire, responsible for leading procurement, stock planning, and buying activity across a large and fast-moving product portfolio. You'll play a key role in shifting the function from reactive purchasing to a more structured, data-driven and commercially aligned approach.

You'll sit at the centre of the business, working closely with Sales, Finance, Vendor Management and Operations to ensure product availability, cost control, and strong supplier performance.

Key Responsibilities Procurement & Supply Chain Leadership
  • Lead the procurement function, covering purchasing, stock planning and replenishment
  • Translate sales demand and vendor plans into effective buying decisions
  • Drive cost efficiency, working capital optimisation, and supplier performance
  • Introduce structure and governance across purchasing processes
Demand Planning & Inventory
  • Develop and embed forecasting processes across vendors, categories, and customers
  • Align stock levels to demand, minimising aged stock and stockouts
  • Monitor trends and adjust procurement strategies accordingly
Supplier & Vendor Management
  • Manage distributor relationships, focusing on pricing, delivery and rebates
  • Support vendor reviews with data-led insights
  • Work closely with internal vendor teams to ensure alignment with commercial plans
Operations & Continuous Improvement
  • Collaborate with logistics and warehouse teams to improve fulfilment performance
  • Optimise ERP and systems usage to drive efficiency and automation
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives across supply chain processes
Team Leadership
  • Lead, develop and mentor a team of Buyers
  • Build a high-performance, accountable and data-driven culture
What We're Looking For
  • Background in procurement / purchasing within distribution, reseller or similar fast-paced environments
  • Strong understanding of supply chain, stock management and demand planning
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Sales, Finance and Operations
  • Proven ability to improve processes and drive efficiencies
  • Commercially aware and financially disciplined
  • Strong leadership presence - able to challenge and develop teams
  • Comfortable in a fast-moving, ever-changing environment
  • Resilient, hands-on and solutions-focused
