Baggage Maintenance Engineer

We are looking for a skilled Baggage Maintenance Engineer to help keep Birmingham Airport’s baggage handling systems safe, reliable, and efficient. From conveyors and carousels to x-ray machines and control systems, you’ll play a vital role in keeping operations running smoothly in a fast-paced, 24/7 environment.

• Carry out preventative, corrective, and reactive maintenance on baggage handling systems.
• Respond quickly to breakdowns, using fault-finding techniques to minimise disruption.
• Ensure compliance with all health and safety obligations when performing maintenance tasks.
• Use our Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to record, track, and analyse activities.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute technical expertise to projects.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors, and airport stakeholders to keep operations efficient.

• Recognised industry apprenticeship with electrical and mechanical qualifications (minimum NVQ Level
  3).
• Experience maintaining conveyor or automated material handling systems.
• Strong knowledge of current Health & Safety legislation, with experience writing risk assessments and safe systems of work.
• Proven ability to diagnose and resolve breakdowns quickly under pressure.
• Experience working with CMMS, PLCs, and voltages from 24
  
  VDC to 415
  
  VAC.
• Ability to read and interpret schematic drawings and technical manuals.
