The Maintenance Operative plays a critical function, ensuring the smooth running of operational building facilities. This is a customer-facing environment where you will be responsible for maintaining Vita Student’s highest building standards.

Responsibilities
  • Respond to maintenance requests, promptly addressing student and staff reports of issues with plumbing, electrical, heating/cooling, lighting, furniture, and other equipment.
  • Perform Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM).
  • Conduct regular inspections of residence facilities to identify potential issues and perform scheduled maintenance tasks.
  • Carry out general repairs, such as fixing leaky plumbing, broken fixtures, damaged doors, and wall repairs.
  • Perform minor tasks like replacing flooring, repairing furniture, and touch‑up painting and decorating.
  • Maintain ground works and upkeep of outdoor areas such as grass cutting and hedge trimming/shaping.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures when performing maintenance tasks.
Professional Experience
  • Experience delivering preventive and corrective fire alarm and firefighting system maintenance.
  • Skilled across a variety of maintenance functions.
  • Well‑versed in delivering Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) within a similar environment.
  • Demonstrable understanding and adherence to safety compliance regulations and procedures.
  • IT literate.

  • Excellent communication skills. English is the primary spoken language; multilingual skills are warmly welcomed.

  • Ability to carry out tasks that may involve extended periods of standing and repetitive movements, with reasonable adjustments considered where required.
