Our client, a well-established equipment hire and services organisation in Birmingham, is looking for a Depot Operative to join their team.
This is an excellent opportunity to apply your technical skills in mechanical and electrical assembly, while gaining valuable experience across all aspects of depot operations, from equipment preparation through to customer dispatch. You'll work across mechanical assembly, electrical assembly and warehouse operations, managing everything from receiving hire equipment through to picking, packing and loading customer orders.

Responsibilities:
* Assemble mechanical and electrical equipment, following detailed engineering drawings.
* Test all assembled equipment to ensure it meets strict quality and safety standards.
* Receive and offload returned hire equipment, organising it correctly within the depot.
* Handle equipment exchanges, repairs and transfers between depots.
* Clean, inspect and maintain hoses and fittings to ensure they are ready for use.
* Accurately pick and prepare customer orders based on the provided picking lists.
* Prepare orders for dispatch, ensuring every item is correct and accounted for.
* Safely load and unload delivery vehicles.
* Assist with regular stock-takes to help maintain accurate inventory records.
* Work flexibly around warehouse opening times (07:00 to 17:30), including on-call emergency dispatch duties.
Who They’re Looking for:
* Studied applied engineering in electrical and/or mechanical disciplines.
* General experience in pipe fitting and/or electrical assembly work.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings accurately.
* Safe operation and use of hand tools.
* Knowledge of health and safety within production environments.
* Well-organised approach with strong attention to detail.
* Flexible attitude and ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously.
* Self-starter who can prioritise and arrange your own workload.
* Strong verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
* Competent PC skills for warehouse management systems.
* Counterbalance or flexi forklift licence (preferred but not essential)
