This is a hands-on field role covering new connections, reinforcement, and fault/repair work across the LV and HV distribution network, engaged on a 6 month rolling contract via CIS.
Key Responsibilities:
• Carry out wiring, jointing, and termination work across LV and HV distribution assets, including cable, overhead line, and substation equipment
• Complete new connections, service alterations, and reinforcement works to NGED specification and safety rules
• Diagnose and rectify network faults, minimising customer downtime and restoring supply safely and efficiently
• Work from job packs, wiring diagrams, and switching schedules, ensuring accurate completion of paperwork and as-built records
• Operate and isolate LV/HV switch gear in line with Safety Rules and Permit to Work / Sanction for Test procedures
• Travel daily across the Midlands patch to attend planned and reactive jobs, working safely in live and de-energised environments
• Liaise with site supervisors, control room, and NGED representatives to ensure works are progressed and closed out correctly
• Maintain full compliance with RIDDOR, CDM, and site-specific health & safety requirements at all times
Requirements:
* Proven experience as a Wireman on LV/HV distribution networks, ideally within an NGED, DNO, or IDNO environment
* Valid JIB/ECS Gold Card (or equivalent) evidencing Wireman/Electrician competency
* Authorised Person (AP) or Competent Person (CP) status for LV/HV switching – desirable, will be considered an advantage
* Current NGED (or equivalent DNO) safety rules training – desirable, or willingness to undertake client induction/training
* Full UK driving licence – essential, given the travelling nature of the patch
* Valid CSCS/ECS card and up-to-date safety, health & environment (SHE) certification
* Registered (or able to register) for CIS self-employed payment
* Strong understanding of safe isolation, switching, and permit-to-work procedures
* Flexible and reliable, with the ability to work across multiple sites within the Midlands patch on a daily basis
Competitive CIS day rate
Consistent, varied work across the Midlands distribution network
Support from the Rubicon Power T&D team throughout the contract, from onboarding to ongoing compliance
