Facilities and Health & Safety Manager

Autism West Midlands is a specialist provider of care and support to autistic adults, children and their families/carers across the region. Behind every one of our residential homes and supported living services is a safe, well maintained building — and that’s where you come in. Working alongside our housing provider partners, you’ll take the lead on maintenance, safety and regulatory compliance, making sure our environments are somewhere the people we support can genuinely thrive.

We’re looking for a Facilities and Health & Safety Manager to take ownership of maintenance, Health & Safety compliance and facilities across all our services. Someone who is comfortable managing a maintenance team, managing contractors, and making sure Health & Safety actions actually get done, not just logged.

This role is a part time position, 25 hours per week, you will be based at our head office Sense Touchbase Pears, with travel across our residential homes and supported living services.

What you’ll be doing:

• Planning and coordinating maintenance and facilities works across our homes and services — using your own team where you can, and trusted contractors where you can’t.
• Owning our relationship with Cohesion, our Health & Safety audit provider, and driving their audit actions through to completion alongside our managers.
• Managing external H&S contractors, from fire and electrical to legionella testing, making sure the right checks and paperwork are in place.
• Line managing our maintenance team — developing and supporting them.
• Overseeing procurement and supplier contracts to get genuine value for money
• Managing the facilities and maintenance budget, with real input into forecasts and planning.

What you’ll bring:

• Solid experience managing maintenance staff and contractors
• A sound, practical grasp of Health & Safety — ideally from a care or other regulated setting
• Experience seeing audit actions through
• Budget management know-how
• A full driving licence

Nice to have: Experience in social care, health or housing; IOSH or NEBOSH; a knack for procurement.
