Transformation Director

Our client is currently looking to recruit a Transformation Director on an initial 18 month contract.

Sussex - Hybrid

£800 - £1000 per day umbrella

An exceptional opportunity has arisen to lead a once-in-a-generation Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) programme across Sussex. This pivotal role will shape the future operating model of local government across the county ensuring a safe, legal and well-planned transition while maintaining service continuity and improving outcomes for residents.

• Lead the full LGR portfolio across all Sussex authorities
• Establish and oversee a disciplined Portfolio Management Office (PMO)
• Translate political ambition into deliverable, measurable plans
• Ensure robust governance, assurance and legal readiness
• Maintain focus on long-term sustainability and improved outcomes

You will oversee programme leads across:

• Legal & Governance
• Finance & Commercial
• HR & TUPE
• Digital & Data
• Communications & Engagement
• Assets & Estates
• Service Integration

We are seeking a senior public sector transformation leader with:

• Proven experience leading large-scale reorganisation or system change
• Strong portfolio and programme management expertise
• Significant experience working with elected Members and Chief Executives
• Deep understanding of local government legislation and governance
• Strong financial, commercial and digital transformation capability
• High political awareness and resilience in complex environments
