Potensis is pleased to partner with a leading Contractor/Developer who are looking to recruit a new Health & Safety Director.

This role will lead the strategic development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Health & Safety and wellbeing practices across all projects.

Reporting into the Managing Director, you will act as the point of contact for Health & Safety oversight across the Business. You will manage and support the Health & Safety Managers across multiple offices, enhance all H&S processes, and embed a culture of continuous improvement throughout the Business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership – Develop and execute the company’s health & safety strategy aligned with corporate objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Compliance & Governance – Ensure all operations comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act, CDM Regulations, and other relevant legislation.
  • Risk Management – Oversee risk assessments, method statements, and site safety audits for all construction and development sites.
  • Culture & Training – Foster a positive safety culture through leadership, training programmes, and engagement initiatives.
  • Incident Management – Lead investigations into accidents, near misses, and unsafe practices, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
  • Stakeholder Engagement – Collaborate with project managers, site managers, contractors, and external regulators to maintain high safety standards.
  • Reporting – Provide regular safety performance reports to the board, highlighting trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
About You
  • Proven experience in a leadership health & safety role within construction with a focus on student accommodation, housing or apartment led developments.
  • Chartered Membership of IOSH (CMIOSH) or equivalent.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK health & safety legislation and best practice.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and influencing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
