Job DescriptionRole Overview: Assist in cost management of gas transmission and storage projects, from option studies to contract administration.
Responsibilities- Support the delivery of cost/commercial management commissions.
- Ensure commissions are managed within budget and client satisfaction.
- Monitor project risks (threats and opportunities).
- Prepare cost reports and aid project reviews for governance decisions.
- Attend project meetings, addressing cost/commercial matters.
- Lead contract management support for NEC4 contracts through a contract management system.
- Advise clients on procurement strategies and tenders.
- Assist in delivering multi‑disciplinary gas transmission and storage projects.
- Manage contractor and subcontractor payments and final accounts.
- Build strong relationships with clients and cross‑functional teams.
- Support business development opportunities with existing and new clients.
- Experience with in a client organisation or through co‑location/secondment.
- Knowledge of NEC contracts, particularly PSC and ECC.
- Experience in integrated, multi‑organisation teams.
- Infrastructure and cost/commercial management experience.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Highly motivated with an extensive industry network.
- Strong relationship‑building abilities, managing clients and stakeholders.
- Independent working capability with minimal supervision.
- Team player with a can‑do attitude, polite, patient, diplomatic, personable, respectful, and flexible.
- Experience on gas transmission and storage projects.
- Ongoing professional development, including RICS or equivalent qualifications.
- Stakeholder engagement to align projects and address concerns.
- Financial acumen for budget and financial oversight.
- Adaptability and problem‑solving skills for changing circumstances.
- Strategic thinking related to National Grid objectives.
- Minimum five years cost/commercial management experience.
- Degree in quantity surveying or related field.
- Member of a related professional body (e.g., MRICS) or working towards it.
