Grade C – £35,412 to £44,075. Working 21.9 hours per week. Permanent. Consultation grade subject to formal evaluation under the Equal Pay Programme.

The Library of Birmingham is looking for a proactive, people‑focused Customer Services Coordinator to lead our front‑of‑house services and ensure every visitor enjoys a welcoming, inspiring experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the day‑to‑day delivery of core public services across the Library of Birmingham.
  • Act as duty manager for the building, ensuring safe, efficient and compliant operations.
  • Serve as a visible, positive ambassador for the library, engaging with colleagues, partners, volunteers and community groups.
  • Support the delivery of a wide range of library services, events, exhibitions and activities.
  • Manage and coordinate front‑of‑house customer service, responding to inquiries, resolving issues and promoting library amenities.
  • Work effectively under pressure in a large, complex public building and adapt to changing circumstances on a daily basis.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Strong administrative skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication abilities, both verbal and written.
  • Experience coordinating teams or managing customer‑facing environments is desirable.
  • Confidence, organisation, people‑skills and comfort working in a busy public setting.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
