Overview
The Christ Church Summerfield community in North Edgbaston is seeking an Operations Manager to support the church’s mission and provide a foundation for ministries. The role will ensure smooth operation, aid Lead Pastors, Ministry Leads, and the PCC in decision‑making and practical management on both a short‑and long‑term basis.
Job Title: Operations Manager
Responsible to: Lead Pastor
Hours: 21 hours per week (mid‑week flexible, no Sunday shifts)
Pay: £31,937 pro rata
Contract: Permanent, with 3‑month probation
- Lead day‑to‑day church operations, systems, administration, and team coordination.
- Plan and oversee Sundays, events, projects, bookings, and annual calendar management.
- Support staff, volunteers, safeguarding, communications, and internal processes.
- Manage governance, compliance, finance administration, and reporting requirements.
- Oversee church buildings, facilities, contractors, health & safety, and site maintenance.
- Coordinate baptisms, weddings, funerals, and external hall/church bookings.
- Work closely with the Lead Pastor, ministry leads, PCC, and serving teams to ensure smooth and sustainable church operations.
- Exceptional leadership and management skills.
- Strong interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Experience overseeing operations, preferably in a church setting.
- Proactive, self‑motivated, and flexible with an innovative mindset.
- Ability to juggle a broad range of responsibilities.
- Open heart and “can‑do” attitude.
- Good time‑management skills with a proven ability to prioritise workload.
- Strong administrative skills.
- Willingness to work in line with Christ Church Summerfield’s values.

- Practising Christian required.
- Commitment to actively participate in the life of the worshipping community.
- 25 days annual leave (pro‑rated) plus statutory bank holidays.
