Location:
Birmingham Salary: £55,000 - £60,000
Our client, an established environmental consultancy, is looking to appoint an experienced Ecology Team Lead to take responsibility for the management and continued development of their Birmingham-based ecology team.
This is a senior position combining people management, project oversight, commercial responsibility and client development. You will have the opportunity to influence how the regional team grows while remaining involved in the delivery of key ecological projects.
The position would suit an experienced Principal or Associate-level Ecologist looking for greater responsibility over a team, its workload and its future development.
- Role Overview
- Lead and develop a team of ecology professionals within the Birmingham region.
- Oversee workloads, project priorities and resource requirements.
- Support the successful commercial and technical delivery of ecology projects.
- Provide senior project management input across larger or more complex commissions.
- Mentor and support Project Managers and other members of the ecology team.
- Identify recruitment requirements and support the continued growth of the team.
- Maintain and develop relationships with key clients.
- Contribute to new business opportunities and the growth of the regional ecology workload.
- Monitor upcoming projects and ensure appropriate resources are available.
- Work collaboratively with ecology colleagues and specialists across the wider business.
- Help maintain high standards across technical reporting and project delivery.
- Requirements
- Degree in Ecology, Biological Sciences, Environmental Science or a related discipline.
- Strong experience working within UK ecological consultancy.
- Previous experience managing, mentoring or leading other ecology professionals.
- Proven ecological project management experience.
- Good understanding of UK ecological legislation and planning policy.
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of project performance.
- Confidence managing client relationships and contributing to business development.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- CIEEM membership or progression towards an appropriate professional grade.
- Chartership or progression towards Chartership would be advantageous.
- Full UK driving licence.

- £55,000 - £60,000 depending on experience.
