Job Description

Summary

Historic England has a fantastic opportunity for you to join us as our National Projects Manager - Capital Projects.

This is a part time 0.5 FTE, fixed-term contract until the 31st March 2027.

The location of this role is either Newcastle, York, Manchester, Birmingham, Swindon, Bristol, Portsmouth (Fort Cumberland) or Cambridge, inclusive with hybrid working.

The salary for the role is £40,778 pro-rata (national), £43,903 pro-rata (Greater London)

What you will be doing

This role is based in our Portfolio Development and Delivery (Portfolio) department, which has responsibility for Historic England’s Unified Portfolio and Delivery Pipeline and for managing major portfolios, programmes and projects of organisational significance.

The National Projects Manager (Capital Projects) will support the development of a major initiative to address the archaeological archives crisis in England. They will be responsible for driving the delivery of the business case for the National Archaeological Archives Centre (NAAC). They will work with external consultants and contractors, as well as colleagues from a wide range of departments across Historic England from Architects and Surveyors to Facilities Managers and HE’s technical conservation specialists.

Who we are looking for

Experience leading and delivering major public sector capital projects.

Experience developing Business Cases using the UK Government Five Case Model.

Knowledge of public sector procurement, JCT contracts and risk management.

Experience managing complex projects involving multiple stakeholders and delivery partners.
