Lead Document Control Across 11 Major HS2 Contracts
Are you an experienced Document Control or Information Management professional with a strong understanding of ISO 19650?
Do you have experience managing people, project information and multiple stakeholders within a major construction or infrastructure environment?
High Speed Two Ltd is looking for a Document Control Manager to lead a team of five Document Controllers and oversee document control activities across HS2's 11 rail systems contracts.
Reporting to the Head of Document Control, you will sit within a wider team of around 40 Document control professionals based within the 80 strong Digital Engienering Team. You'll work closely with Project Managers, engineers, contractors and other stakeholders to ensure critical project information is controlled, accessible and managed effectively.
This is a people and stakeholder focused role, requiring someone who can lead a team while maintaining high standards of information management across a complex programme.
The Role
You will manage and develop five Document Controllers, overseeing the flow of project information between HS2, contractors, consultants and delivery teams.
You will be responsible for ensuring documentation is received, reviewed, controlled, distributed, tracked and archived correctly, while ensuring processes align with ISO 19650 and HS2 information management requirements.
A significant part of the role is stakeholder management. You will work across 11 rail systems contracts, ensuring contractors provide HS2 with the required documentation, to the expected quality and in line with agreed processes. You will manage and mentor the contractor Document Control teams, providing guidance and training where required to ensure consistent standards across the programme.
HS2 uses Enterprise Bridge eB as its Common Data Environment, so experience with eB is useful. However, experience with another CDE or electronic document management system will be considered.
Key Responsibilities
* Line manage, develop and support a team of five Document Controllers.
* Oversee document control activities across HS2's 11 rail systems contracts.
* Ensure project information is received, reviewed, controlled, distributed and archived correctly.
* Maintain document control processes aligned with ISO 19650 and HS2 requirements.
* Work closely with contractors, engineers, Project Managers and other stakeholders to manage information exchanges and resolve issues.
* Drive improvements to document control processes, systems and ways of working.
* Monitor document control performance and ensure information remains accurate, traceable and accessible.
* Provide advice and support on document control, CDE and information management requirements across the programme.
About You
We are looking for an experienced Document Control professional with proven experience within a major project, construction or infrastructure environment.
You must have previous line management experience and be comfortable managing and developing Document Controllers.
Strong practical knowledge of ISO 19650 is essential, together with experience managing project information across multiple stakeholders and delivery organisations.
Your background could come from rail, nuclear, highways, civil engineering, power, utilities or another major infrastructure environment.
Experience with Enterprise Bridge eB would be advantageous, but we are equally interested in candidates with strong experience using other Common Data Environments or electronic document management systems.
Most importantly, you will have the organisational ability, communication skills and stakeholder management experience to operate effectively across a complex programme.
Essential Requirements
* Strong practical knowledge of ISO 19650.
* Significant Document Control or Information Management experience within a major project environment.
* Previous line management experience.
* Experience managing project information between contractors, consultants and client side teams.
* Strong stakeholder management skills across multiple teams and organisations.
