The salary is highly negotiable, allowing us to consider candidates based on their experience, qualifications and potential.
Key Responsibilities- Support the Registered Manager with the day-to-day running of the home, ensuring young people receive safe, consistent and individualised care.
- Help lead, supervise and develop the residential care team, promoting positive practice and high standards of support.
- Maintain compliance with Ofsted regulations, safeguarding requirements, care plans, risk assessments and the Children's Homes Regulations and Quality Standards.
- Support the delivery of a structured, nurturing environment that promotes young people's emotional wellbeing, development and independence.
- Contribute to staff supervision, team development, training and performance management.
- Monitor care records, incidents and safeguarding concerns, ensuring appropriate action is taken and lessons are learned.
- Work collaboratively with social workers, families, education providers and other professionals to achieve positive outcomes for young people.
- Assist with audits, quality assurance and continuous service improvement.
- Take responsibility for the home in the Registered Manager's absence, when appropriately delegated, and develop the operational skills required to lead a service independently.
- Experience working in children's residential care, ideally supporting young people with EBD, trauma or complex behavioural needs.
- Previous supervisory or management experience, such as a Senior Residential Support Worker, Team Leader, Assistant Manager or Deputy Manager.
- A sound understanding of safeguarding, risk management, care planning and Ofsted requirements.
- The confidence to lead a team, make sound decisions and maintain professional standards.
- Strong communication and organisational skills, with a child-centred approach to care.
- A Level 3 qualification in Residential Childcare or an equivalent relevant qualification, with a willingness to work towards Level 5 where required.
- Ambition to develop into a Registered Manager and take on increased responsibility over time.
- Candidates already working as Deputy Managers are welcome to apply, as are strong senior practitioners ready to step up into their first management position.
This role is designed for someone who wants to build a long-term career in children's residential care.
Working closely with the Registered Manager will provide the opportunity to develop experience across staff leadership, safeguarding, regulatory compliance, quality assurance and the operational management of a children's home.
For the right candidate, the intention is to create a clear pathway towards Registered Manager responsibility, with the opportunity to demonstrate their readiness to lead a home in the future.
Salary and Benefits- Highly negotiable salary, based on experience, qualifications and suitability.
- A permanent management position within a specialist children's residential care setting.
- Direct experience supporting the management and development of a children's home.
- A genuine opportunity to progress towards Registered Manager level.
- The chance to develop leadership, compliance and service-management experience within an EBD setting.
