Orion are working with a leading precision engineering company based in Birmingham who are looking for highly skilled CNC Miller/Turners to join their growing Machine Shop team.

CNC Setter Operator Package:

Competitive salary: £42,800 Inclusive of shift premium

CNC Setter Operator

Shifts:

37.5 hours per week on rotating day shifts:

Shift Pattern 1:
Mon–Thu 05:45–13:30
Fri 05:45–12:15
Shift Pattern 2:
Mon–Thu 13:15–21:00
Fri 11:45–18:15

CNC Setter Operator Responsibilities:

Set and operate CNC machines efficiently in a lean manufacturing environment.
Machine one‑off and small‑batch components to tight tolerances.
Inspect parts using CMM, verniers, micrometers and other measuring tools.
Edit CNC programs (FANUC), including basic speed and feed adjustments.
Carry out routine machine checks and report issues quickly.
Read and interpret engineering drawings and CNC programs.
Operate multiple machines to maximise productivity.
Support continuous improvement and root‑cause investigations.
Work effectively with cross‑functional teams.

CNC Setter Operator

Required Experience:

Experience in a precision engineering or manufacturing environment.
Strong CNC setting and operating skills, ideally with 5‑axis machines.
MAZAK/Mazatrol experience preferred but not essential.
Confident using FANUC controls.
Ability to run proven CMM programs.
Skilled in inspecting high‑precision components.
Experience machining materials like stainless steel, titanium, nickel alloys and bronze.
Able to work from detailed engineering drawings.
Strong problem‑solving and fault‑finding ability.

CNC Setter Operator

Qualifications:

Ideally apprentice trained or time‑served in a mechanical/engineering discipline
Minimum of 5 years experience Milling AND/OR Turning on FANUC & Mazak machines
Relevant engineering qualifications desirable
