Workshop Joinery Apprentice

The role will be based from our Bradley workshop 5 days a week. The working hours of the workshop are 07:30 - 16:00 Monday to Thursday & 07:30 - 12:30.
OverviewYoull work in our workshop carrying out maintenance and repair tasks under the guidance of our expert workshop team. Youll learn how to work effectively as part of a team and contribute to the Trusts planned annual works. Youll learn how to use specialist joinery techniques that support and enhance the Trusts canal and river.
ResponsibilitiesSupport the manufacture repair and assembly of our large timber lock gates using traditional and modern joinery with hardwoods and other materials to cut shape and prepare components following technical drawings and workshop machinery and hand tools safely and accurately to produce high quality parts that meet Trust materials meet required grades dimensions and quality standards. Carry out quality inspections on components and completed efficiently as part of the production team to deliver gates to agreed timelines for installation across the waterway.

You will work towards the Level 2 Carpentry & Joinery apprenticeship with one of our expert training providers. Whilst on‑job you will work with supportive colleagues to get the best out of your apprenticeship experience. QualificationsYou dont need any prior experience - well teach you everything you need. What matters is you have a genuine interest in practical hands‑on enjoy solving problems and feel comfortable working both in a workshop environment and outside. Ideally you have grade A-C or grade 9-4 in Maths and English GCSE (or equivalent) already achieved or on story:
Brian decided to change career and joined us after completing a Level 2 Engineering Apprenticeship and has since moved into a Workshop Craft Operative role where he manufactures all the metal parts for our lock gates.
