Packaging Buyer – FMCG / Packaging Manufacturing

Pay: £40,000.00-£45,000.00+ per year / Negotiable for the right candidate

A fast-growing, dynamic packaging manufacturing group is seeking a hands-on Packaging Buyer to join their procurement team. This is a key role responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing all packaging materials for the group, ensuring cost efficiency, quality, and on-time delivery.

You will be a true “wheeler-dealer”, negotiating with suppliers, building strong relationships, and driving value for the business. This role suits someone with experience in FMCG, food manufacturing, consumer goods, or similar industries, who thrives in a fast-paced, growing environment.

• Source and purchase packaging materials across multiple sites and business units.
• Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms with suppliers to secure the best deals.
• Manage supplier relationships and ensure high standards of service, quality, and compliance.
• Monitor stock levels and work with operations to ensure availability of packaging materials.
• Conduct market research to identify new suppliers, innovations, and cost-saving opportunities.
• Collaborate with internal teams including Production, Quality, and Finance to align purchasing with business needs.
• Drive continuous improvement and procurement efficiencies across the group.

• Proven hands-on purchasing experience within FMCG, Packaging manufacturing, consumer goods, or similar industries.
• Strong negotiation and supplier management skills – a real “wheeler-dealer.”
• Ability to work independently and make fast, informed decisions.
• Commercially aware and able to deliver cost savings without compromising quality.
• Excellent communication, organisation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with ERP or procurement systems advantageous but not essential.
