Maintenance Engineer – Temp to Perm

Location:

Aston, Birmingham

Pay Rate: £22 per hour

Working hours:

40 hours per week | Sunday to Thursday | 11:00am – 7:30pm

We are recruiting for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join a food manufacturing site based in Aston, Birmingham. This is a temp‑to‑perm opportunity offering long‑term stability and progression within a growing operation.

This is a 50/50 split role
, combining hands‑on technical maintenance with management and coordination responsibilities.

The Role of a Maintenance Engineer

You will play a key role in keeping production running efficiently by:

  • Performing planned preventive and corrective maintenance
  • Troubleshooting mechanical and electrical faults
  • Minimising downtime and restoring production quickly
  • Working on food production machinery and associated equipment
  • Ensuring full compliance with food safety and safety standards including GMP and HACCP
📋 50% Management & Coordination

Alongside technical duties, you will:

  • Plan maintenance schedules and factory shutdowns
  • Supervise maintenance technicians and external contractors
  • Manage spare parts inventory
  • Support control of the maintenance budget
  • Ensure all maintenance activities meet health, safety, and food industry regulations
Machinery

You will be responsible for maintaining food production and packaging machinery within a manufacturing environment. Experience with in a food factory setting is highly advantageous.

Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment (food manufacturing preferred)
  • Strong mechanical and electrical fault‑finding skills
  • Experience working within GMP and HACCP standards
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience advantageous
  • Strong organisational and problem‑solving skills
