📍 Aston, Birmingham
💰 £34,500 + Shift Allowance
🕒 Rotating Shifts (6am–2pm / 2pm–10pm / 10pm–6am)
Are you an experienced Laboratory Technician with a background in metals, foundry, steel, aluminium, copper, brass, or industrial manufacturing?
We are seeking a Laboratory Shift Technician to join a well-established manufacturing operation, supporting quality assurance, materials testing, and process control within a fast-paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities:
✔ Mechanical and metallurgical testing including hardness, tensile, bend and grain size analysis
✔ Spectrographic chemical analysis and verification of material composition
✔ Inspection and testing of incoming raw materials and scrap
✔ Calibration and verification of laboratory equipment
✔ Monitoring and analysis of process solutions, acids and treatment tanks
✔ Preparation of Certificates of Conformity and quality documentation
✔ Macro and microstructural examination of metal products
What We're Looking For:
✔ Laboratory, quality control, or metallurgical testing experience within a manufacturing environment
✔ Knowledge of mechanical and chemical testing methods
✔ Experience working with metal products, alloys, castings, extrusions or engineered materials
✔ Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
✔ Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
Additional Responsibility:
The successful candidate will occasionally provide operational cover during nights and weekends, ensuring production, quality, safety and staffing requirements are maintained.
