We're looking for a driven and experienced Business Unit Manager to join the Plant Management Team. This is an outstanding opportunity to take ownership of a critical Business Unit and make a real impact on operational performance. You'll be part of a leadership team, with the chance to shape results, develop people, and drive meaningful improvement across the plant.
We are a unique manufacturing facility, 24/7. This is a key leadership role with full responsibility for the day‑to‑day performance of your Business Unit, ensuring delivery across Safety, Quality, Throughput, Cost, and People. You'll be at the heart of operational performance—leading teams, driving improvement, and ensuring targets are met while continuously looking for better ways of working.
DUTIES- Set quarterly ESH and productivity targets aligned to sales budgets, staffing models, and headcount plans
- Drive delivery of safety and productivity goals through effective leadership of Production Managers
- Monitor daily performance, identifying and implementing recovery actions where needed
- Lead capacity modelling to identify bottlenecks and ensure production capability meets budget demand
- Represent Operations in pipeline and yield meetings, owning updates on production cost‑saving initiatives
- Manage Excess & Obsolete
- Lead and develop Production Managers, including performance management, engagement, absence, and talent development
- Ensure daily targets are achieved in line with production plans
- Coordinate with support functions to prioritise and align plant‑wide operational needs
- Review current systems and drive improvements in quality, cost, and on‑time delivery performance
- Champion continuous improvement across the Business Unit
- Strong leadership experience in a manufacturing environment and a proven ability to deliver results in a fast‑paced setting.
- Degree in a Business‑related discipline (desirable not essential)
- Strong experience in a similar manufacturing leadership role
- Experience working in a unionised environment is beneficial
- Proven ability in people leadership, performance management, and team development
- Strong understanding of budgets, operational data, and production systems
- Knowledge of ISO
9001, ISO
14001, and OSHA
18001 (or equivalent standards) - Experience with Continuous Improvement tools and methodologies (advantageous)
- Strong communicator with the ability to influence at all levels
- Confident working cross‑functionally with internal teams, suppliers, and customers
- A proactive, hands‑on leader with a “can‑do” attitude and the ability to challenge and improve existing ways of working
