Experienced 5-Axis CNC Miller / Programmer

Brown & Holmes is looking for an experienced 5-Axis CNC Miller / Programmer to join its growing engineering team.

This role will involve working on a large‑capacity Lagun 5‑axis machining centre with a 4‑metre bed, producing complex, high‑quality components for demanding engineering sectors.

• Programming, setting and operating a 5‑axis Lagun machining centre
• Working with Heidenhain controls
• Machining large, complex and high‑value components
• Producing one‑off and low‑volume precision‑engineered parts
• Reading and interpreting detailed engineering drawings
• Selecting appropriate tooling, speeds, feeds and machining strategies
• Carrying out in‑process inspection and maintaining high quality standards
• Working closely with engineering and production colleagues to improve machining processes and reduce cycle times
• Working to tight deadlines

• Strong experience programming, setting and operating 5‑axis CNC milling machines
• Good working knowledge of Heidenhain controls
• Experience operating Lagun machinery, or similar large‑capacity machining centres
• The ability to work confidently and independently on complex jobs
• A strong understanding of engineering drawings, tolerances and inspection methods
• A practical, quality‑focused approach to problem‑solving
