CNC Miller Setter Operator
Location: Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands
Hours: Monday to Thursday, 6:00am - 6:00pm (48 hours per week)
Salary: £40,000 to £45,000 per annum
We are seeking an experienced CNC Miller Setter Operator to join a growing precision engineering business. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting and operating CNC milling machines to manufacture high‑precision components for a range of demanding industries. This role is ideally suited to a skilled machinist with strong Fanuc control experience who is confident making basic programme edits, setting tooling and ensuring efficient production of quality components.
Key Responsibilities- Set and operate CNC milling machines using Fanuc controls.
- Make basic programme edits and offsets at the machine where required.
- Load and prove out existing CNC programmes.
- Manufacture precision components to tolerances as tight as 15 microns.
- Interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Select and set tooling, fixtures and work holding.
- Carry out first‑off inspections and in‑process measurements.
- Identify and resolve basic machining issues to minimise downtime.
- Maintain high standards of quality, housekeeping and health & safety.
- Work closely with engineering and production teams to meet customer delivery requirements.
- Proven experience as a CNC Miller Setter Operator.
- Strong knowledge of Fanuc control systems.
- Ability to make basic programme edits and adjust offsets.
- Experience setting and operating CNC milling machines.
- Ability to manufacture precision components to tight tolerances.
- Excellent understanding of engineering drawings and geometric tolerancing.
- Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving skills.
- Experience with in a precision engineering, aerospace, defence or similar manufacturing environment.
- Experience machining large or complex components.
- Experience working within regulated manufacturing sectors.
- Experience with multi‑axis CNC milling.
- Previous experience using Fusion 360 or similar CAM software (advantageous but not essential).
Due to the nature of customer contracts, successful applicants must be eligible for and able to pass a BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) check.
Working Hours & Benefits- Monday to Thursday, 6:00am - 6:00pm (48 hours per week).
- 40 hours paid at standard rate.
