Production Operative - Signage & Large Format Digital Future Recruitment

Our client is a signage and large format graphics company based on the Bedfordshire / Buckinghamshire border. They are currently looking for a reliable and hands‑on Production Operative to join their busy sign and print workshop. This is a practical role, ideal for someone with good attention to detail, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn new skills.
You will start with basic tasks such as packing orders and helping to make and finish signs. Over time, there will be opportunities to progress into more advanced areas of production, including machine operation, printing, and electrical work on illuminated signage. A company uniform will be provided, along with all the tools necessary to fulfil your day‑to‑day duties.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Signage Manufacture & Assembly:
Assisting with the manufacturing, building, and finishing of signs, fascia panels, and architectural graphics - Substrate Preparation:
Measuring, cutting, deburring, and prepping various materials including ACM, acrylic, PVC foam board, and aluminium before production. - Wide Format Print Finishing:
Weeding, masking, and applying vinyl graphics to a wide range of rigid and flexible substrates using vinyl applicators and rollers. - Laminating:
Operating wide-format roll‑to‑roll laminators to apply protective gloss, matt, or anti‑graffiti finishes to printed vinyl. - Illuminated Signs:
Constructing, wiring and assembling custom sign frames & light boxes - Quality Control:
Conducting thorough checks on prints and finished signage to ensure colour accuracy, alignment, and zero defects prior to dispatch - Packing & Logistics:
Packing and preparing finished signage securely for transit to avoid damage, and organising dispatch schedules for installation fitters - Workshop Maintenance:
Keeping the production floor organized, clean, and safe between material runs and job transitions - Teamwork:
Supporting colleagues and working collaboratively to meet demanding daily production deadlines
As you grow into the role, our client is committed to providing internal training to expand your technical skill set. Future development paths include:
- Operating precision flatbed CNC cutting routers and large-format digital printers
- Advanced digital print RIP software setup and file profiling.
- Soldering, module balancing, and electrical wiring of LEDs for complex illuminated signs
- Advanced manufacturing, welding, and custom metal/acrylic fabrication techniques
