Role Purpose

The Disability Manager will support AHEAD’s disability inclusion programs in Birmingham, focusing on community engagement, advocacy, accessibility awareness, and program delivery. The role ensures AHEAD’s activities are inclusive and supportive of persons with disabilities.

Key Responsibilities

A. Awareness & Sensitization
  • Organise community workshops and campaigns on disability rights, accessibility, and inclusion.
  • Develop and distribute awareness materials (posters, leaflets, social media content).
  • Engage schools, community groups, and workplaces to promote disability-friendly environments.
B. Program Delivery & Support
  • Support inclusive education and employment initiatives for PWDs.
  • Assist in organising skills training and empowerment workshops for persons with disabilities.
  • Liaise with families and caregivers to strengthen support systems.
C. Advocacy & Partnerships
  • Advocate for improved accessibility in services and facilities.
  • Work with councils, disability networks, and service providers to promote inclusion.
  • Represent AHEAD at disability rights forums, coalitions, and stakeholder meetings.
D. Monitoring & Reporting
  • Collect and manage data on disability-related programs.
  • Prepare activity reports, case studies, and advocacy briefs.
  • Track progress against inclusion goals.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Social Work, Disability Studies, Community Development, or a related field.
  • Experience in disability advocacy, social care, or community projects is desirable.
  • Knowledge of disability rights frameworks (UK Equality Act, UNCRPD) is an asset.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and advocacy skills.
