Historic England has two fantastic opportunities for you to join us as our Historic Places Regeneration Adviser.

This is a full time, permanent contract position.

We offer a wide benefits package including a competitive defined benefit pension scheme to which we make 28.97% employer contributions, a generous 28 days holiday, corporate discounts, free entry into English Heritage sites across the country and development opportunities to ensure you achieve your goals.

What you will be doing

Through the work of the Historic Places Regeneration Team, we demonstrate the transformational power of heritage in creating successful places. The team works collaboratively to deliver for people and places where we can make the biggest difference.

The team leads place-shaping activity and investment across the region. It is responsible for the initiation, development, delivery, evaluation and celebration of targeted interventions and engagement in priority places. To support its work, the Historic Places Regeneration Team draws on the breadth of expertise and tools we have, including the heritage at risk programme, engagement, expert advice, grants and research, to effect positive and long lasting change.

Meaningful partnerships with regional and local authorities, businesses, community groups, charities and other national agencies are central to the work of the team, helping to deliver creative projects that leverage the value of heritage to deliver wider societal benefits.

Historic Places Regeneration Advisers support Team Leaders in the design and delivery of our programme for priority places. Their work is insight and evidence-driven, to respond to community needs, as well as opportunities to scale our impact in partnership with others, including Mayoral Combined Authorities. Advisers will draw on their master planning and regeneration skills to deliver exemplary and impactful projects.

Advisers make full use of Historic England’s breath of expertise and tools, including grants and the heritage at risk programme, and they work with communities and external partners to deliver heritage-led regeneration.
