We are the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Care Centre, Birmingham - one of the largest UK specialist centres caring for people with MND. We are passionate about supporting people living with MND from diagnosis to end of life. We are excited to recruit a Band 7 MND Research Nurse who shares our passion for improving the lives of people with MND and is keen to develop the MND research portfolio.

As a highly experienced research nurse, you will be exclusively dedicated to supporting MND research activities, be fully embedded within the multidisciplinary team (MDT) and be fundamental to integrating research into patient care.

The post will sit within the MND clinical team and will have joint supervision with the Research team. The post holder will work autonomously to shape MND research across the West Midlands and allow greater access to research for those living with MND. This is an opportunity to join the wider MND community and work alongside the MND Association by joining the MND National Research Network.

The post holder will be based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital but will work closely with other Trusts. It is essential to be a car owner for this post, to travel across the region enabling participation in MDT clinics, meetings and home visits. Band 6 research experience is essential for this post. This exciting role will involve overseeing and supporting research for people living with MND, as well as linking in with the wider MND research network and seeking out opportunities to bring research into the Trust.

You will be involved in all stages of the research process, including but not limited to feasibility, set-up, patient identification and recruitment, protocol delivery and data management. You will use your extensive range of clinical skills and experiences to deliver high quality care to our participants on their research journey.

The post holder will disseminate information about research opportunities in a way that is accessible to all patients, including those who are unable to attend clinics / access information via phone or video call. You will act as an expert source of information for patients, carers and health care professionals.

Participation in MDT clinics and meetings will be key to ensure that research information and activity is a core element of clinical care.

• Genuine enthusiasm for research and supporting the MND community
• RN with substantial experience at B6 in clinical research
• Ability to drive & access to a car to facilitate home/community visits
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Ability to work under pressure across competing demands
• A flexible approach to working to meet the needs of our patient group

• Educated to Master's level in relevant degree such as nursing or clinical research, or equivalent level of experience working in clinical research
• Registered Adult Nurse on Level 1 NMC register with active NMC Registration
• Evidence of Mentorship/ leadership skills
• Completion of a relevant post registration specialist course or experience in research and development
• ICH GCP (Good Clinical Practice) training
• Research training such as informed consent, safety reporting, audit & inspection

• Professional Portfolio which demonstrates continuing professional development, evidence of ability to maintain professional registration
• Substantial relevant and recent clinical experience within a complex health care setting or Acute NHS setting including the supervision and education of junior staff/ students
• Significant clinical experience in supporting, delivering and leading clinical research within health and care
• Demonstrable current, recent experience of team leadership and management within the healthcare setting
