Job SummaryThe Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive care to children from birth through young adulthood (ages 0–21). This role is responsible for examining, diagnosing, and treating patients with acute injuries, infections, and illnesses while ensuring compassionate, family‑centered care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Collaborate with team members to examine and treat pediatric patients.
- Perform assessment and treatment of acute injuries, infections, illnesses, and asthma care.
- Provide minor laceration repair with adhesive or sutures; remove staples and sutures.
- Provide preliminary interpretation of x‑rays with radiology over‑read.
- Order, prescribe, and interpret appropriate lab tests.
- Maintain accurate medical records of professional services rendered.
- Prepare and review reports, claims, and correspondence in compliance with Federal and State regulations.
- Provide telemedicine services to pediatric patients as needed.
- Prescribe appropriate medications and treatment plans.
- Recommend preventive health practices and lifestyle guidance.
- Refer patients to specialists or other providers when appropriate.
- Stay current on pediatric advancements by attending seminars and continuing education.
- Consistently demonstrate dignity, respect, and professionalism toward co‑workers, patients, vendors, and visitors.
- Provide excellent customer service to patients and staff.
- Deliver compassionate, family‑centered care.
This position has no direct reports but may supervise the activities of other staff to ensure tasks are completed promptly and patients receive the best possible care.
Education and ExperienceGraduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Minimum 2 years of related experience required.
Qualifications- Active Board of Nursing certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP‑BC/FNP‑BC).
- Master’s or Doctorate degree from an accredited nursing program.
- Active RN and PNP licensure in Alabama with board certification as a NP in Pediatric Acute Care, Pediatric Primary Care, or Family Care.
- 2+ years’ experience providing care as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Strong acute care clinical background preferred, but not required.
- Knowledge of urgent care procedures.
- Evidence‑based quality care delivery.
- Strong diagnostic, problem‑solving, and relationship‑building skills.
- Knowledge of OSHA and CLIA guidelines and confidentiality requirements.
- Current knowledge of pediatric medications and side effects.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- Proficiency with EMR systems, MS Windows, and Microsoft Office 365.
- Ability to delegate, make sound clinical judgments, and prioritize patient safety.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced urgent care environment.
