Birmingham & Solihull TB Service, community (Yardley Court).

Hours:

33 hours per week.

Birmingham & Solihull TB Service are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic Nurse to join the Team based in the community (Yardley Court). The Team provides follow‑up care to patients diagnosed with Tuberculosis and offers screening to contacts. The Specialist Team manages TB Incidents and Outbreaks across Birmingham & Solihull.

• Case‑manage a caseload of patients, support and ensure treatment completion to prevent spread of infection and minimise drug‑resistant disease.
• Work closely with the Multi‑disciplinary Team, UKHSA, neighbouring TB Services and national TB services.
• Be a car driver essential for community work.

• Registered Adult/Child Nurse on the NMC Register.
• Post‑registration qualification in TB, supplemented by specialist experience and short courses.
• Recognised mentorship course.
• Non‑medical prescriber or willing to work towards (where applicable).
• Working towards advanced health assessment module and non‑medical prescribing.

• Post‑registration experience Band 6 or above Clinical Nurse Specialist in a related field.
• Ability to revalidate as required by the NMC.
• Professional leadership and team management experience.
• Achievements and career development in current post and ongoing professional development.
• Specialist knowledge of TB underpinned by theory and CPD.
• Experience developing educational programmes, teaching and supervising in a clinical and community setting.
• Experience in a multi‑disciplinary and cross‑agency environment.
• Expert nursing knowledge and ability to assess, plan, implement, evaluate specialist care delivered to patients and provide advice and information to patients, relatives and care staff.
• Awareness of current NHS policy relevant to the speciality.
• Understanding/experience of safeguarding principles.
• Knowledge of corporate and clinical governance.
• Patient/user involvement and advocacy role.
• Awareness of current research related to the speciality.

• Balance clinical caseload and team management.
• Report writing and presentation skills.
• Communicate with a wide range of health professionals on complex and sensitive issues.
• Work autonomously, prioritise workload.
• Competent in expanded clinical practices relevant to scope.
• Work under pressure across competing priorities.
• Construct and conduct clinical audit; analyse information and produce reports with recommendations.
