Clinical Fellow in Heart Failure and Cardiac Devices

Queen Elizabeth Hospital, University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust – start as soon as possible until 3rd August 2027.

The unit offers a supra‑regional service for the management of patients with chronic heart failure and cardiac devices. Across the four hospitals of the trust an estimated 3,000 cardiac device implantations are performed per annum, including approximately 300 cardiac resynchronisation therapy (CRT) device implantations. QEH receives tertiary referrals for failed CRT cases requiring adjunct strategies such as venoplasty, tunnelling, femoral systems as well as sub‑cutaneous ICDs, lead‑less pacemakers and conduction system pacing.

All aspects of the service involve experimental and clinical research regularly published in major peer‑reviewed journals.

• Follow the training programme in complex device implantation.
• Develop further sub‑specialty experience in heart failure and complex cardiac device implantation.

• Near completion or completion of cardiology training (peri‑CCT) in heart failure and cardiac devices.
• Desire to gain high‑volume experience in this field prior to consultant appointment.
