Band 5 Staff Nurse - Case Unit and Discharge Lounge

Overview

Exciting opportunity to work on the Day Case Unit and Discharge Lounge at Good Hope Hospital. The Day Case Unit is a 30‑bed elective surgical unit.

As part of the team, you will be responsible for admitting patients and caring for them post‑operatively across a range of specialties including Gynaecology, Trauma & Orthopaedics, General Surgery, and Ophthalmology.

• Admit patients to the Day Case Unit.
• Provide post‑operative care and monitor patient progress.
• Identify patients suitable for the Discharge Lounge.
• Collaborate closely with the clinical site team and other members of the MDT to create and maintain efficient flow across the hospital site.
• Ensure continuity of care and patient safety throughout the admission and discharge process.

• Knowledge and understanding of pre‑operative and post‑operative care.
• Experience or ability to manage patients undergoing a variety of surgical procedures.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
