Senior Veterinary Surgeon - Small Animal Practice

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Senior Veterinary Surgeon to join a well-established small animal practice located close to Birmingham. Key Duties
Deliver high-quality first-opinion veterinary care for small animals Perform routine surgical and medical procedures Support and help lead the clinical team, including mentoring less experienced vets Work collaboratively with an experienced nursing and support team Contribute to maintaining excellent clinical standards and client care
Working Pattern
Clinic opening hours: 8:00am - 7:00pm weekdays, 9:00am - 1:00pm Saturdays 1 in 3 Saturdays (consulting only, sole charge) No Sunday work Bank holidays on a rota basis Flexible rota with a set weekday off and early finish Fridays (1 in
3) Protected time for admin, catch-up slots, and phone calls built into the diary
This structure supports a strong work-life balance, with a focus on finishing on time.
Practice Facilities
Well-equipped, standalone small animal practice Varied caseload, primarily cats and dogs with occasional small furries Modern equipment including dental X-ray, laparoscopy, endoscopy, Kyon TPLO equipment, harmonic scalpel, and K-laser Strong focus on keeping cases in-house wherever possible Close proximity to referral services if required Working towards zero pain accreditation, with opportunities to be involved
Key Skills, Qualifications and Requirements
BVSc or equivalent qualification recognised in the UK RCVS registration (or eligibility) Strong experience in small animal practice Confident in routine surgery and general practice Ability to support and lead a clinical team Positive attitude with a collaborative and proactive approach Interest in further development, including certificates
