About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Veterinary Surgeon to join a well-established small animal practice that also provides veterinary support within an animal welfare setting.
This role offers a varied caseload across first-opinion practice and welfare medicine, making it ideal for a vet with at least three years' experience who enjoys both consulting and surgery while making a genuine difference to animal welfare.
Working alongside an experienced clinical team, you'll help deliver high standards of patient care, support preventative healthcare, and contribute to the welfare of animals awaiting rehoming.
About the Practice
This independently run small animal practice works in partnership with a respected animal welfare organisation, providing veterinary care for privately owned pets as well as animals within dedicated rehoming centres.
The team is passionate about delivering excellent clinical care while promoting responsible pet ownership, preventative medicine, and animal welfare. The varied caseload offers exposure to routine first-opinion practice alongside shelter medicine, creating a unique and rewarding working environment.
You'll be joining a supportive, collaborative team where professional development, teamwork, and patient welfare are at the heart of everything they do.
Working Pattern
- Full-time or part time
- 40 hours per week
- day working week
- 1 in 4 Saturdays
- Split between two West Midlands sites
About You
- RCVS Registered Veterinary Surgeon
- Minimum of 2 years' small animal experience
- Confident with consultations, diagnostics, and routine surgery
- Excellent communication and client care skills
- Able to work independently when required
- Organised, proactive, and resilient
- Passionate about delivering excellent patient care and promoting animal welfare
Key Responsibilities
- First-opinion consultations
- Routine medical and surgical procedures
- Diagnostic work-ups
- Delivering high standards of patient and client care
- Caring for privately owned pets alongside animals within a welfare setting
- Promoting preventative healthcare and client education
- Contributing to shelter medicine decisions and animal welfare
- Maintaining accurate clinical records
