Health & Safety Officer
- Part-Time | 24 Hours per Week | £30,000 Full-Time Equivalent | 5% Pension A part-time Health & Safety Officer opportunity has become available within an established manufacturing business in the Birmingham area. The successful individual will lead day-to-day health and safety activities, with support from senior management, the SHEQ team and external consultants. This is a hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys working closely with production teams, improving workplace safety and keeping compliance documentation up to date.

Health & Safety Officer responsibilities include
- Complete and review risk assessments, implementing practical controls across manufacturing activities. Manage COSHH assessments, hazardous substance registers and safety data sheets. Oversee contractor safety, reviewing RAMS and managing permits to work. Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, driving corrective actions through to completion. Deliver inductions, safety training and toolbox talks, promoting a positive safety culture. Maintain compliance records, report safety KPIs and coordinate health surveillance, PPE checks and audit preparation.

Desirable skills and experience for the Health & Safety Officer role - NEBOSH qualification and previous health and safety experience within manufacturing. Experience managing COSHH and working around hazardous substances. Confidence completing risk assessments, reviewing RAMS and managing contractors. Knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and awareness of ISO 14001 / ISO 45001. Chemical manufacturing or FMCG experience would be beneficial.

A practical, organised approach, with confidence engaging employees and using Microsoft Office. Health & Safety Officer benefits include - £30,000 full-time equivalent, dependent on experience and pro rata for 24 hours per week. Part-time working hours, with flexibility on which days are worked. 33 days' annual leave, pro rata. 5% matched employer pension contribution.
